The ardesia stone is also called blackboard stone, because the classic school blackboard are made of this incredible stone.

The ardesia stone is an italian material extract from the Liguria quarry, in an area between Lavagna and Chiavari.
When the stone is extracted, it has a high degree of disintegration, so it can be easily separated into sheets, which are smoothed and placed side by side .

The stone requires a lot of time to lose its water of crystallization, so it is repined for many months. After the seasoning, Ardesia stone shows low degree of absorption and it is perfect to cover roofs, too.
